Poly-lysine polymers are available in L and D conformations. Poly-L-lysine polymers can be digested by some cell types, whereas poly-D-lysines are stable. Poly-lysine polymers from 70 to 300 kDa provide sufficient attachment site density for good cell adherence. However, higher the molecular weight poly-lysine polymers are more viscous and difficult to work with.The choice of poly-lysine polymer for a specific cell type and application should account for the susceptibility of the polymer to digestion, the required attachment site density and the difficulty in handling. |
