JX401 is a potent non-cytotoxic, membrane permeable p38α inhibitor. It is highly specific for p38α with an IC50 value of 32 nM while showing no inhibition for p38γ even at 10 μM. JX401 rescued yeast growth in a dose-dependent manner in p38-expressing cultures and reversibly inhibited myoblast differentiation in mammalian cells in culture.
