• Protection of primary and secondary alcohols as hexafluorophenylisopropyl (HIP) ethers can be effected under Mitsunobu conditions. The HIP group shows outstanding chemical resistance under a wide pH range and also in the presence of nucleophiles, organometallic reagents, oxidants, reducing agents and Lewis acids.
