Alkaline phosphatase is a hydrolytic enzyme which dephosphorylates a variety of molecules under basic conditions.3
Application
Alkaline phosphatase is used in the laboratory to remove phosphate monoesters which prevents self-ligation.1 It is also used in the dairy industry to confirm pasturization of milk.2 Alkaline phosphatse is commonly conjugated to antibodies and used in immunoblotting, ELISA′s, and other antibody based detection assays.
