Oxythiamine inhibits Transketolase, the enzyme that controls the nonoxidative branch of the pentose phosphate pathway.
Oxythiamine (OT) is a thiamine antagonist that may be used as a transketolase inhibitor and to study anti-metastatic mechamisms, especially those involving metalloproteinases (MMP).
