Research Area: Inflammation Biological Activity: Parthenolide ((-)-Parthenolide) is a sesquiterpene lactone which occurs naturally in the plant feverfew (Tanacetum parthenium). Parthenolide ((-)-Parthenolide) has several biological activities. Parthenolide is active against a parasite Leishmania amazonensis. Parthenolide ((-)-Parthenolide) is also a potential anticancer agent. Parthenolide ((-)-Parthenolide) destroys acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) cells by inducing apoptosis. Parthenolide ((-)-Parthenolide) also has anti-inflammatory and anti-hyperalgesic effects. [1] |
